Roulette on TV

When it comes to watching and playing roulette on TV, two British programs dominate the landscape. They are known as Live Roulette TV and Smart Live Casino. Below, we will take a look at both of these services which provide the fun and excitement of roulette in a television format.

Live Roulette TV

Roulette TVLive Roulette TV first debuted on June 23, 2005. At the time, it was known as Vegas 24/7 and aired between 3pm and 11pm on Sky Digital channel 274. After much positive feedback, the show moved to the new timeslot of 6pm to 2am.

The roulette game featured on the show follows the rules of European roulette (with the single zero wheel). Every three minutes, the wheel is spun to determine a new winning number.

As its popularity continued to grow, the show was extended an additional two hours to run until 4am. As of this writing, the show now airs on Sky Digital channel 866. It is also simulcast on Sky, Freesat, Freeview and Internet platforms (including Pitch Gaming 2 channel 867 and Open Access 3 channel 200).

Initially, bets could only be placed by a telephone menu. Players called in and were charged 10p via a national rate number. Bets were initially limited to such options as corners, splits and straights. In recent years, the system has increased to allow many more roulette betting options.

In August of 2006, the show became fully interactive via the Internet. Thanks to the launch of their website, players are now able to view the show online and also place bets on their computer. A Myspace fan site is also available at www.myspace.com/liveroulette.

The show features a group of presenters who are all fully-trained croupiers. Many of these individuals have become quite popular in the UK, and they include Kylie Cushman, Rebecca Nasir, Chantel Shafie, Oreke Mosheshe, Stuart Stone, Christen Matthews, Anstey, Richie Litchfield, Olivia Hill, Rob Lamarr, Chris Ditchburn and Natasha Powell.

Players can also sign up for a “Premium Player Account.” This enters their names into a number of prize drawings, but only residents of the UK are eligible. However, players from across the globe can sign up for free player accounts and play just for fun.

To play Live Roulette TV, you must be at least 18 years of age.

Smart Live Casino

Smart Live Casino launched on UK Digital Television on May of 2007. Players can wager on roulette by logging onto a website or phoning a toll-free number.

The show was originally broadcast on Sky Digital channel 851, but this was later extended to Freeview channel 22. In July of 2007, they moved from Sky channel 851 to Sky channel 869. Another program called Casino TV, and featuring a High Roller Auto Wheel, was launched on July 7th, 2008.

Much like Live Roulette TV, Smart Live Casino also features a team of presenters/croupiers. Each is licensed by the Great Britain Gambling Commission. Presenters include TV personalities Jemish Patel, Carmel Thomas, Luke Toyne, Rhiannon Duffin and comic Sarah “The Damage” Damergi.

The game played is European roulette (with a single zero). Viewers have two minutes to place bets, and a new game begins every three minutes. Players can place bets over the telephone or at http://www.smartlivecasino.com/.

For a fee, players can also choose to become VIP members. This entitles them to cash bonuses and prize giveaways. Members also get a free present each year on their birthday. Players outside of the UK can also play, but they are limited to participating just for fun.

To play Smart Live Casino for real money, you must live in the UK and be at least 18 years of age.
